WIPW Really need to finish a few things

After finishing my hearts baby blanket the other week, I decided I'm not allowed to start anything else until I've finished a few of the WIP I've got on the go at the moment (and I have a really long list that's getting longer of things I want to start LOL).

So first up to finish is a shawl I started about a year ago now inspired by Sarah from Crafts from the Cwtch's knit-along. I've not got that much more to do really as I'm on the last colour band so a few more rows should see me done hopefully. If I can I would like to get it finished by Friday so I can work on something else next week. Will have to see how I go.

New camera lens

Yesterday it was a nice day, though a little cold with the breeze, but still too nice to stay inside so we decided to go walking with the kids. Its easter holidays and though we are only a few days into it they are already starting to get a little housebound.

We went down to Cosmeston lakes for a walk and it gave me chance to have a play with the new camera lens hubby bought me for Christmas.

Thought I'd share a few of the pictures I took.

Noooooooo

Arg no I've been trying to get my blanket finished as we are going hopefully tomorrow to see my cousin-in-law (might have just invented that relation, my husbands cousin) and her new daughter, hence the lateness of this post and guess what I've run out of yarn on the last row :-(

Off to unpick the last couple of rows and redo them in another colour. Think its going to be a late night lol

Some more ongoing pics to keep you going. Will post some finished pictures on Friday.

New Yarn

It was Red Nose Day in aid of Comic Relief last weekend and I decided to break my no more yarn rule and buy a few skeins from the Knitting Goddess seen as she was donating part of every purchase made over the weekend (she donated over £1300 in the end to comic relief which I think is a fantastic sum to raise so well done to them).

I had gone on in hope of one colourway I'd seen in the preview post on her blog but unfortunately I wasn't quick enough and it had already sold out. Instead I ended up with three skeins in the colourways Violet Meadow, Isle Esme and Volturi Palace.

I've already picked what I think I'm going to make with them. Volturi Palace is made up of 100 grams in the one colour and a complementing 20g in the second. It was part of the knitting goddess's monthly sock club called when vampires knit socks based on twilight for anyone who hadn't already guessed that, it is going to be made into I think Belle Epoque Shawl.

Isle Esme (also from the when vampires knit socks range) is lovely shades of blue, yellow and green and am hoping it will make a change from the colours I usually go for and give me something nice and summery. It will be used to make either Glam Shells or Clapo-Ktus I'm leaning more towards the Glam Shells at the moment.

Finally violet meadow is the lovely green and purple shaded skein and I think I'd like to use it to make Simply Seashells but again I could go with Clapo-Ktus instead or use something else from my stash for that perhaps.

All the skeins are 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon sock weight, 100g (425m). I've bought from the knitting goddess several times now and can highly recommend them for both service and quality of the yarns I've received.

Hearts and Squares

Its a long time since I've taken part in WIP Wednesday but I'm hoping to get more chance to keep this updated now I've got a new computer (my old one blew up round last September) and I've missed seeing what everyone's getting up to. I've been working on a few things lately and not finishing all that much really so have an awful lot of WIP to get done.

The main thing in my little basket of projects I am trying to complete in the next few days is a baby blanket for my husbands cousin who is due any day now.

I've been working on this for a fair few weeks now between other things and have finally finished all the squares I need.

I've been having a play at the layout and am happy with this so am going to start joining them all together this evening and putting a boarder on and it will be all done by the end of this week. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the pink has ended up being a very close shade to the red so looks like I have extra squares of that rather than the two different colours it really is but unfortunately I don't have time now to order in another colour to replace it.

Following on with the heart theme this week I've also been making little crochet hearts with the idea to add lavender between the layers and make some little scented pockets. They've turned out quite pretty and I finally have something to use up this yarn.

Oh dear, it's been a while

I can't believe how long it has been since I last posted here. I promise to make an effort to post again more regularly. In a quick sum up of what has happened since I last posted, I am now the proud mum to three boys. Our third son arrived at the start of September.

We got off to a bit of a wobbly start with him not gaining any weight really for the first 8-10 weeks or so. After alot of back and forthing to the doctor/hv/breastfeeding hv/community midwife they finally agreed with me that I was not feeding him wrong/ not enough/ getting the wrong latch/ my milk just wasnt good enough quality (yes one gp actually told me that)/ and no I wasnt switching to formula that at 10 weeks old we descovered he is intolerant to cows milk. Since cutting it from my diet hes coming along fantastically and now we are at 6 months old hes already on his way to crawling, eeek.

Other than that not alots changed here in the past year lol. I will be back tomorrow with a crafty update of what I've been working on these past few weeks :-)
